Mamod Minor 1

The Minor 1 is the smallest engine in Mamods SE Range.They are very simular in appearence to the Mamod Minor 2 (see below). First indroduced in 1939 the Mamod Minor 1 has had many changes in its life.
Take the picture of the 1970s Minor 1 and compare with the picture of the 1949 version of the Minor 1. The Minor 1 was discontinued in 1979 after 40 years in production and was Replaced by the SP1.Approx total production 245,000

First produced in 1939 the minor two was a twin cylinder over type steam engine. This particular model was only produced for a short time, and is infact the rarest Mamod of them all with under a 100 being made. It was discontinued in 1940. The Mamod Minor 2 was put back into production in 1948. It was the same design as the Minor 1 but the Minor 2 was bigger and more poweerful. It lasted 31 years until 1979 when it was discontinued again and replaced by the Mamod SP2. Total Production approx 210,000

Mamod SE1
The Mamod SE1 was introduced in 1936 and was discontinued in 1965 and was replaced by the Mamod SE1A. During its time in production approx 140,000 were made including the SE1A.The design is basically a Minor 2 boiler but with the engine unit mounted away from the boiler and not on top.
